I've seen on a few occations that base camping has been involved.
this mainly happens on gravel pit by the attacking team, after blowing up the engineer teleport entrances they proceed to basically camp the entrances forcing much weaker in health classes to either wait annoyingly in spawn or just die resulting in pathetically easy kills. (such as a heavy waiting to kill engineers etc.) Now I know tf2 is much different to cs, in fact the camping side of tf2 is at a bare minimal. However, I need to verify if this is allowed or not. Although it's quite a godo tactic to push the defensive team back, it's not accomplishing the team goal of getting the points required. I'm thinking constant camping isnt helping the team on this map, and perhaps it happens on other maps. I'm thinking if it persists, perhaps a warning, then slay? What are your thoughts...

I think it should be allowed, after all, they do have a spawn to dive back into if they are being attacked, and they have 2 exits - If it was me being attacked as, say, an engineer, i would wait for the attackers to die, change class or wait for a combat class to attack them. But as you say, the camping doesnt really help the team much as they should be at the frontline! Anyway, i think the defenders should be ready for this and have to think their way around it

I agree with William, it should be allowed but its not very useful. People on the same team should bitch a them and tell them to fuck off.. I get very mad when that happens cause most likely they are new and they take 30 points from me -_-
you know if we ban that kind of camping, We would have to ban the opposite way too. On the same map, in the beginning, when red demos puts stickies everywhere so Blu can come out without an uber or death. Thats like camping and its accepted...

Maps are generally designed to be mirrored, so if one team camps then there is nothing to stop the other team using the same tactic.
I find the word "camping" is used to slag off perfectly good tactics too. Sitting on an Uber charge until it is needed could be considered camping. A heavy sitting on a dispensor... repeatedly slowing down enemy advancement by destroying teleporters etc... If the latter became a real problem then they would allow teleporters to be built in the spawn room. They don't, so it's part of the design and gameplay. On the whole the game is designed so that every class has a rival class or strategy that will overcome any situation. It's up to those involved to work as a team to make that strategy work... which I have to say is why I love playing on the VIA server. |

I like to camp C as Blu on GravelPit, B is usually captured second, so by some of us staying at C, we're preventing reinforcements from getting to B, therefore helping our team a great deal.
