a fix for the annoying saxton hale error sign

Every once in a while people ask why do they get an error sign wondering around killing people instead of saxton hale all of the sudden.

so instead of always explaining them over the already flooded chat of the game i thought we should have the fix right here
so we could reffer them for a quick solution.

anyway, if you got this problem then all you have to do is delete the folowing directories:

x:\Steam\steamapps\username\team fortress\tf\materials\models\player\saxton_hale

and

x:\Steam\steamapps\user name\team fortress 2\tf\models\player\saxton_hale

once you deleted those directories the saxton hale files will be re downloaded when you re join the server and the problem will be gone!

Thats not the only problem, u can filter downloads, if they have it set to filter models, it will also cause an error because they arent downloading the models in the first place.

Ok fair enough, but at least u now know about filters for new ppl, just something to get them to check in the options

Usually that does work, delete files and redownloading. I never had that problem though

this error problem also can happen to the amplifier,
it might be a nice idea to put the location of those files in here too.
i do not know the place of these files so it would help me too

LOL i didnt put the amp fix because most people happen to preffer the error sign over the original amplifier including myself , but yeah i guess it should be there too

Is there a fix for those Saxton Hale games, where he is the Soldier and is supposed to fire lemons? Instead of lemons i see the error message.

Also, the fix for Saxton Hale is not working...I delete the files from both directories, but when i redownload the files, its still an error message...

weirdly enough, sometimes it takes more tries before this works.
lately the server stubbornly decided i had to redownload the files and so it did.
i got this problem after that and had to redownload 3 times before it worked.
annoyed me very much but it worked...

Ever considered just adding a link to download all the content from somewhere instead of hoping that the server doesnt behave like retard?

You could use a downloadurl or this plugin to download an entire folder, and remove the AddFileToDownloadsTable loop in OnMapStart().

btw, i cant find the Guile and Bi-winning sounds in my sound folder :s mines got corrupted and it wont redownload.
